First Amendment Schools
Want to know more about the First Amendment and its role in schools? The First Amendment Center is organizing the First Amendment Schools, a national project intended to promote the awareness of civil liberties and democracy among young students. Read more about the initiative and its goals, a brief history of the latest laws and court cases, news and upcoming events, as well as the selected project schools' profiles. Teachers can look at various lesson plans regarding the issues of civil liberty, speech, press, assembly and petition. Students can read more about the five freedoms, take the First Amendment 101 Challenge to see if what you can and can't do in school, and play the Newsmania quiz game.
