19th Century Schoolbooks

What was education like in the 19th Century? Take a peek at the Nietz Old Textbook Collection. Among its 16,000 volumes, there are many titles that are rarely held and have not yet been reproduced in microform collections or reprint editions. As part of a demonstration project, the University of Pittsburgh's Digital Research Library has made a bibliography of the collection available online, as well as page images and searchable text from thirty schoolbooks. Both the bibliography and the full text collection are searchable and browsable.
