Congratulations to San Juan Island Library!
The San Juan Island Library serves a Washington island community where there are more lighthouses than traffic lights. The physical library is only accessible by air or boat, but the Web site is open to all.
A drag-down menu points to popular topics, which range from federal student aid to the ferry schedule. You'll find all the basics and a healthy dose of extras here, including a book discussion e-mail list, a downloadable patron guide and volunteer profiles (meet Mark the carpenter and Andy the book mender!)
If patrons can't find what they're looking for, they are encouraged to fill out a recommendation form. If the library acquires the resource, it thanks the patron who recommended it by giving them the number one slot on the checkout list.
