Site of the MonthsFebruary 1999

Congratulations to How Stuff Works

How Stuff Works
How Stuff Works is an amazing reference resource. The site is ready to answer dozens of everyday questions, from how the engine in your car works to what makes the inside of your refrigerator cold. The site's creator, Marshall Brain, has authored ten books, taught at North Carolina State University and worked as a software executive. His talent for explaining complex subjects to everyday people yields an outstanding resource for schools, libraries and parents. Many explanations include diagrams, video or sound clips and links to related resources. For added convenience, the site illustrates how to cite the site in a bibliography. How Stuff Works was recently bestowed the grand prize at the Cool Site of the Year awards in New York (a refreshing vote of confidence for educational content on the Web)!

Know of an outstanding library- or reference-related site? Please nominate it and we'll take a look.
