Congratulations to the ELITE Project

Many educational institutions have incorporated distance learning programs into their course offerings. The ELITE Project at the University of Leicester (Leicester, UK) maintains an excellent information clearinghouse on the topic. The project focuses on how libraries can provide electronic access for students enrolled in distance courses. Covering topics like conferencing, chat, e-mail and Web forms, ELITE's site links to various library examples and articles. Created as a resource for Leicester's University Library, the project now serves as a tool for other libraries entering the arena of distance education.
