Institute of Museum and Library Services
With a mandate to foster leadership, innovation and life-time learning, the Institute of Museum and Library Services is an independent federal grant-making agency. IMLS grants are made with the goal of enhancing institutional resources and creating broad community access to museums and libraries throughout the nation.
The IMLS seeks to provide leadership to museums and libraries through several grant programs. The institute also recognizes excellence in libraries with its annual National Award for Library Service. Learn more about the award recipients.
In an effort to keep the library and museum community informed, the institute publishes a monthly e-mail newsletter, Primary Source. Read it online, or subscibe to recieve it via e-mail. An extensive online library of publications offers quick access to applications, brochures and other reports.
